A place for what you know.
Itakua is a shared brain for you and your agents. Your notes and their memory in one folder of plain files, kept under rules you both follow.
Whyyou your agents
A system that works for both of you.
Itakua is your notes, and it is your agents' memory. Same folder, same files. What you write, they know. What they do, you can see.
For you, that means notes that stay in order. Everything has a place, so you can find it later and trust it when you do. For your agents, it means starting from what you already know instead of a blank page.
And you keep it together. You drop things in, and your agents file and distill them. Agents propose changes to what you know, and you approve them.
Who does what
- You
- Capture whatever comes, whether a recording, a file or a thought.
- Read and edit from any device.
- Your agents
- Start from what you already know.
- File and distill what you capture into notes.
- Both of you
- Put each thing in its place.
- Add to the record of what happened and never rewrite it.
How it is put together
- Rules
- The pluginInstalled in your agent, not in the folder. It teaches the agent where things go and when to ask you.
- Folder
- Your spacesOne for each part of your life. Each has a short README and the same four places.
- Storage
- What you already useText syncs with the folder. Recordings, PDFs and other documents stay in cloud storage.
Notesnotes/ log/ docs/ inbox/
Every space has the same four places.
A brain is a folder of spaces: guitar, the house, a project at work. Each space holds the same four places, and each place means one thing.
A space starts with a README, a few lines in your words about what it is for. An agent reads it before it touches anything.
So you and your agents know where something goes before opening the folder. A space can hold smaller ones with the same shape. Any other folder you make is yours, and agents leave it alone.
- README.md
- What this space is forA few lines in your words. Agents read it first.
- notes/
- What you knowRewritten as you understand more, always with your approval.
- log/
- What happenedDated sources that feed your notes. Added to, never rewritten.
- docs/
- Your documentsScores, PDFs and sheets stay in Google Drive. Notes link to them.
- inbox/
- Captured, not filedIt waits until you ask. Nothing in it counts as a source.
Logs feed notes
Logs keep what happened. Agents distill them into notes, with your approval.

Captureinbox/
Nothing becomes a note until you approve it.
Record a class with Dictalo, drop in a file, or type a thought on your way out. It lands in the inbox and waits. Nothing processes it on its own.
When you ask, an agent reads the item, writes the log entry and proposes a change to your notes. Automation proposes. You decide.

notes/dorian-mode.mdProposed
Play the mode along one string before learning a shape. What matters is hearing the raised sixth against the minor chord.
Sync~/brain
It is a folder. Sync it your way.
Itakua does not move your files. Keep the brain in iCloud Drive, in Dropbox, in Git, or on whatever already carries your folders between devices.
Text and documents travel separately. Notes and logs are small and go wherever the folder goes. Recordings, PDFs and scores stay in Google Drive, where they already are, and your notes link to them.
Each space's README travels with the folder, so an agent on another machine starts from the same instructions.
iCloud DriveYour Apple devices carry the folder.
DropboxThe same folder on every computer.
GitEvery change kept, on a remote you own.
SyncthingDevice to device, with no cloud in between.
Obsidian SyncIf the brain is your vault, its sync carries it.
Something elseOneDrive, Google Drive, or anything that syncs a folder.
Readerread search edit
Read it anywhere.
The Reader opens your brain on a phone or in any browser. Search every note, pick up where you left off, fix a line while you wait for the bus.
Each note says where it lives and when it last synced. A link to another note and a link to a document look different, because they are different things.
Prefer Obsidian? Every brain is already a valid vault. Open the same folder there and keep your plugins.

Every agent reads what you allow.
One socket serves the same brain to each agent you use, at your desk or on your phone. You choose which spaces it serves.
An agent sees the notes in those spaces and nothing else. Logs, the inbox and every other space are left out, and what is left out looks exactly like something that does not exist.
It is read-only. An agent can offer you text. The brain changes only through you.

Marketplaceel-sapo/itakua
Install it where your agents work.
Without the plugin, an agent guesses how your folder works from whatever it happens to see. With it, every agent starts from the same rules.
It ships as one plugin with two skills. Add the marketplace once, and the same two load in Claude and in Codex.
What the plugin does
- Files things where they belongBefore it writes, the agent reads the space's README and puts each thing in its place.
- Asks before it changes what you knowNotes, READMEs and documents change only with your approval. The log is only ever added to.
- Checks the brainOn request it names anything out of place, any log entry nobody has turned into notes, and any file that lives on one machine only.
- Starts a brain and moves itIt creates a new brain from nothing, and gets an existing one working on another computer without redoing the setup by hand.
